I am 67 and have two self-invested personal pensions with £400,000 in total in them. I don't need this money to live on, as I have a state pension and final salary pension of £35,000 a year. I had mentally allocated the Sipps as a pot in case I need to upgrade my home or pay for later life care costs and if I don't need the money, to pass them on as an inheritance. Mine and my wife's home is worth £800,000 and along with my other savings and investments this means I am on the verge of being liable for inheritance tax. Once pension pots are included, I will definitely be over the limit.11 days ago

It's been a rollercoaster ride, but investors have enjoyed a good year so far overall. We are retired and in our early seventies and the income from our modest pensions isn't going as far as we had hoped. We own our home worth about £550,000 mortgage-free and wonder whether equity release could help our finances.
